Angah ordered for 40 pcs. I've decided to bake blueberry cuppies. I love the taste. For the decoration, I was practicing my piping skill and fondant roses. I'm quite satisfied with the result..

New experience everyday!

Suddenly thinking of Kuih Talam Gula Melaka. One of my fav of Traditional Malay dessert. I had google the web and found the simple recipe.

Brown layer
1 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup of sugar
5 cup water
(combine all the above and boiled it. Let it cool)
2 cup flour
2tbs cornflour
1tsp slake lime (kapur sireh)

Method:
Heat up the steam cooker and grease the pan
Combine all the ingredient and cook it for about 20 mins.
Once it cooked, scratch on top  with fork


Coconut layer
3cup coconut milk
1cup riceflour
1tsp salt

Method
In a separate bowl, combine all the ingredients
Cook it for about 4-5 mins
Then, pour it on the Brown layer
Cook it back in the steamer for about 20 min
Chilled it and eat it!

Nice to eat with our hot tea!

Cuppies for My Nephew Engagement

New experience everyday!

Somehow, I wanted to sponsor this cuppies for him. However, I was quite dissatisfied the end result of my project. My idea and the result not as i expected. Too much blue, why green based and why large size! 


Well, I hd learnt new technique for decorating roses from YouTube by David Cake Cakincrazy. Very simple and easy! At least, the roses make me satisfied!


Cuppies For Noor's Son Birthday

An old fren of mind, Kak Noor order this cuppies for her son birthday. I was so surprised that her son already celebrating 14th birthday but yet his mom still look sooooooo gorgeous and vogue.  I was quite blank with ideas in the beginning bcoz very seldom i make decoration for boy/guy. Well, the end result I felt quite satisfied!

Simple Banana Oat Muffin recipe

New experience everyday!


Just wanna share great recipe BANANA OAT MUFFIN. Its very simple recipe and healthy too. Try it and you gonna love the taste!


Ingredients
1 cup flour
1/2 cup oat
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup oil
1/3 cup fresh milk or yogurt or sour cream
2 eggs
3 bananas


Instruction
Heat the oven to 180 C
Mixed all flour, oat and baking powder in a bowl.
In other bowl, mixed all other ingredient except for fresh milk/yogurt/sour cream. Beat it until its fluffy and creamy.
Then, add the flour mixture in the batter alternate it with the fresh milk/yogurt/sour cream. Mix it well until it look creamy and fluffy.
Lays 12 muffin cup and fill the cup with the batter up to 3/4 cup. Bake it for 25 mins.
Have it with your love ones!


p/s: you can spread some sugar, chopped almond, raisins or choc chip on the batter before you bake it. It will give more wonderful taste!

Release tension by baking?

Weird isn't it this topic? But, that's me. Yes..I releasing my tense by baking or cooking. Recently, I met a few frenz at my niece's daughter bday bash. We discuss about this and later i realized that this probably one of the weird way. All this while I thought I baked or cooked because I like it, my pass time or just as a hobby. But now, i realized it is like a therapy for me..mind therapy.


I couldn't explain  why and how..but this practice works for me. The flour, the mixture, the smell, the heat make me feel like I am living in other world. Such a peace and lovely world..too melancholic isn't it? Arghh..this is my blog, remember? 


Could be, I am good in this. Therefore I feel good about it. When you feel good, you wl feel proud of yourself, you feel everything is under control, you can make yourself happy and you can make other happy too. And you can calm yourself........isn't that a good feeling?


Well, now to those anyone that feel miserable, tension or stress do something you feeling good and you can share with me the feeling that I am telling about. Trust me..it's really work........

Birthday Bash AIN BATRISYA



New experience everyday!

Alhamdulillah! At last, we managed to organize the party as what we planned. Especially the birthday cake!

Hehehe. The birthday gal request for purple colour. This time, i used the exact barbie doll. However, I did pull off the legs. It was american chocolate cake and i was using butter cream. The cake not too sweet (infact very rich chocolate!). And to me, the cake + the cream were just fine.

All my family member impressed with this especially my mom, my sis and my nieces. The b'day gal was so excited having this cake. Infact, most of my guests impressed with this. They never thought i baked it my self. Some of them request to 'tapaw!

Well, beside this cake, i baked cuppies. Since the main cake was chocolate flavor, the cuppies i baked were vanilla butter flavor. then, i managed to do my own cuppies tier. save more budget!

I used Nigella recipe. It supposed 24 cups only. But, i hv forgot that i bought smaller cups. Therefore, it was turned double quantity. Since I only have 24 edible images, i decorated the rest with butter cream. My mom doesn't allowed me to decorate too fancy. She afraid adult guests will not eaten it. Probably she's rite coz this time i saw many adults ate it compared the previous time.

On that day, our other menus were chicken soup serve with nasi himpit/ glass noodle a.k.a 'soto', chinese fried rice, curry puffs, chocolate cake (mom's recipe'), grill starchy rice with shrimp filling, dadih (Malaysian yogurt), and some other kuih.

Well, i can say the party quite well organize and i was satisfied. Thanks to those guests that attending the party and thanks for the present. We will see you next time

p/s: I did not manage to prepare the cup cakes for  the goodie bags. Actually, i don't think it is practical.

Birthday cake for my cousin

New experience everyday!

Yey! Baking cake for Nur Shahira @ Siti. Simple butter cake with blueberry cream filling and topping royal icing. It is for her 14th birthday.

I love the cake! The butter taste is so tempting! For the filling, I just added heavy cream with blueberry paste. The taste are just click! But, i still need to work on my finishing technique. Still horrible! Hope, I can achive it in next 2-3 months.

For butter cake recipe:
250 gm butter
230 gm sugar
4 large eggs
250 gm self-raising flour 
2 tsp vanilla essence
6 tbsp UHT milk

Instruction:
Heat oven 180 Cel. Mix butter and sugar. beat until white and fluffy. Add in eggs each  at a time, alternating it with flour. Add vanilla and milk. Pour batter in cake tine. Bake it!

Planning for Ain's birthday party

My eldest princess turn to 4 on this 12/2/2010. Unbelievable! I still remember the day i gv birth to her. Every moment and how small she was in my arm. But she's a big girl now!

Well, we hv decided to celebrate it on 20/2/2010 since her birth date is so near with Chinese New Year Celebration (we're out of town actually!). And we choose our home for the venue and during tea time. My headache now is about to think of the menu!

Well, in my mind now, I decided to
1) A sponge chocalate cake with orange filling - This will be Barbiedoll cake
2) Stim cupcakes - vanilla flavor - will be in blue, yellow and green colour
3) Dadih- malaysia yogurt
4) Sandwich - eggs & tuna
5) Pulut udang - alang cheras to order
6) Seri muka - also from alang cheras to order
7) Chinese Fried rice
8) Chicken soup with rice noodle/ nasi impit
9) Peanuts/ crackers

Is it enough? Argghhhh..headache!

Well for the goodie bags, i will add a cupcake. Size? i am not to sure yet.

Royal icing..at last

I always wonder how to make purely snowy white cream. I remeber I hd done it long time ago during my teen age but I just couldnt figure out! Well, last week I as usual watching Nigella episode at Astro 703 channel. Yes..my wish come true. She was teachung the technique to make the cream that I want..Royal Icing!!!! Yes..yes..yes..

The next day, i experiment it. Wallah...

Recipe for Royal Icing

2 white eggs

175gm icing sugar

2 tble spoon lemon/lime juice

method: whisk the white eggs until its fully. Normally the volume become double. Then pour in the icing sugar. Beat it with high speed until it become smooth and a bit thicken. Then pour in lemon/ lime juice. Remember, place the icing when the cake is cold. Do not place it during the cake still warm because the icing will melt. You can also color the icing with food coloring up to your desire.

My Collection Part 5

Both cake I bake for my lil angel 1st bday, Amani Balqis. She turns to 1yr old on 24/11/2009. However, we did the celeb on 5/12/2009. Venue, our lovely home.

Her sis was so excited about all the baking cake activities. I drove her to the bake supplies shop. she did request and ask 1001 things..that was a good moment!


In the beginning, i had no idea what type/ flava to bake. But in my mine i had planned for some blueberry and lemon flava. After preparing all the required ingredient, I have decided to bake butter cake with blueberry filling and orang cake with chocolate lemon filling. FYI, I hv to bake 2 cakes since the eldest will get jealous if she doesnt hv.

It was hectic experience. Chaos in my kitchen. On top of the bday cake, I had also bake some cuppies..why I bake it..no answer for that. I think I just wanna make sure the party turns out with colourful dishes and food to be enjoy.

However, I couldn't figure out why my butter cream not up to my mark at that time. Something goes wrong with the ingredient but I just cant figure it out! It turns out quite sweet and my hubby's uncle did make a comment about it.

For info, each cake weight app around 3-3.5 kg. Well, eventhough quite tiring and my messy kitchen, I do really satisfied with the result. But, I need to polish my decorating skill.

Tips: To those that thinking using pebble chocolates for decoration (M&M/ Smarties), eventually M&M gv more vibrant color. But, is the melamine issue settle? I am not to sure!

My Collection Part 4

This collection was a cake that I bake for my MIL, Mama for her 53rd bday. She did not like topping so much. So, I just bake butter cake (since she likes butter cake) with lemond orange butter topping. However, I do not have enough time to decorate. It turns out quite bad..but the taste..superb!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA!

My Collection Part 3

This cake i baked for my nieces and nephew that celebrating their b'day very closed to each other. Una was born on 25/9/1999 and Imi was born exactly the same date but 2yrs later. Aiman was born on 4/10/1993. So..we round-up the bday bash!
I bake very simple cake..butter cake with chocolate orange almond filling. Decoration..what ever that left in my cabinet!

Alhamdulillah, they like it! Infact, starting from this cake I hv started to experiment other type of filling. I enjoyed seeing people mesmerizing the 'treasure' between the cake layers! It is an accomplishment for me! My hubby always says.." I just impress from where you get the tought!"...:P

A nice leftover.........

From the previous post, we were unable to finish up the stick. Since it was to good to be landed in the trash, i came out with a new recipe..Fettucini with grill beef. I love to cook pasta because it is an easy meal + healthy + simple and everybody can enjoy it. luckily, eventhough quite fussy in food selection but he do love pasta (as long as no fish!)


However, there was slightly problem with this pasta. some how, there flour taste of the fettucini quite strong and horrible. I had rinsed it couple of time but still couldnt get rid of it. Well...what a waste for a nice meal!!!

What to cook if only beef in your freezer?

I was so lazy to drag myself (not just my self but with the 2 angels) to go to Carrefour. in my freezer, only left beef. I got bored with beef actually! 2 days in a row our main course was beef! Eeeeeyuuuuik! Well, since I was lazy..tonite again beef as a main course.


I thought of something different than our normal menu. I wanted to grill the beef. Beef stik for tonite!! But because of I hs a lil angel to feed, I still have to cook rice...emm waht type of rice that nice with beef stick? I remembered watching Greek Kitchen episode couple of nite ago..morrocan rice. So..i decided to cook it but I do have to alter the recipe since some ingerdients was not available.


Then, my meal will not be complete if without veggie. I serch my fridge and I found mayonnis. Coleslaw will be nice with stick. As the result..my angles ate a lot and my hubby said GREAT! Me?...really satisfied!


Simple Beef Stick Recipe:
  1. Beef
  2. Shallots
  3. Garlics
  4. Oregano
  5. Basil Leaves
  6. Corriander
  7. salt
  8. Veggie oil
  9. Onion

Clean the beef. Blend all the ingredient 2-7. Marinated the blendered ing wt the beef. left it about 3-4 hours. Than, heat the oven at 220 Celcius. When the oven ready, place the beef in the grill pan. Put some oil. Cook the beef for about 1.5 hours. After the beef cooked, put the chopped onion and grilled it back for 5-10 mins until the onion caramalized. Its done!



The taste quite similar to nasi minyak. But with out cinnamon, clove, cardamon & clove flovers. My daughters love it!

My Collection Part 2




Both collection were ordered by my MIL's fren. SME Bank staff. It was for her Aidilfitri Open House. She ordered for 100 cuppies. 50 in blue and 50 in pink. I bake choc flavor cakes with butter topping. The pink collection, I topped it with flower dec (fondant based). For blue collection, I had grated pink chocolate bar and topped it with marshmellow. I charged her Rm 350 for this.


Actually this collection for my unofficial Aidilfitri Open House 2009. Unable to think of any orther desert to make, cuppies were the easiest at that point of time. Infact, I was trying to sharpen my skill on placing/ decorationg the buttercream. I had added all the leftover buttercream and the photos shows the result!

Nice to see but not nice to eat!!!

I do have problem with jelly!!!. My mom always said it is simple as ABC to cook and prepare jelly.. But why i never success? I had bought a packet of jelly couple months back. I always wanna cook it but some how something stopped me. It's like my sense told me not to cook it because it will turn up horrible taste!
However, last couple of days I was clearing up my book shelf. During clearing process, I had slipped one of old mag. It shows colorful jelly recipes! Then, I remember the poor packet of jelly that i bought! I had decided to do exactly like the written recipe.

That nite, after my lil angel asleep I cooked the jelly. With a passion, I stayed up until 2am to do it. Then I chilled it in my fridge. Wait till tomorrow to taste it!


The pic show the result. I was so glad it turn out to be as I expected. My eldest daughter eager to eat. She cut it and eat it..but her face did not look enjoy eating it. Then, I tk a cut...eeeyyuuuu not nice!!!!!!!!
Well, i shall do it again next time till i found perfecion in this jelly skill!!!!

My collection..............

The above cuppies I made specially for my niece wedding on last may 2009. The flowers and leaves I made from fondant paste. Fondant that I dough myself. (sticky..sticky job!). The cake choc falvor and top with butter cream.
The yummy strawberry cuppies I baked it for my MIL. She ordered for some celebration at her office (SME Bank). During baking this, I was blank with idea. Therfore, just grab a pack of strawberry and wallah..perfection turns up! At first i thought of just plain strawberry on top of the cream. But it turns out to be so nude...Then, the choclate topping make it more vibrant (I guess!)

This was ordered by my sis, Along zai for her cousin engagement. To be frank..i can't get the purple colour that I desired. I do have problem with the fondant dough actually for this set. However, it's still considered ok..


Ha..ha..this were my collection from my 1st baking class. I hd attended class by Apple kitchen in Pandan Indah. the course fee very reasonable. Rm 150. My intention for this class was I wanted to learn in making fondant. Thnakx Melinda (the intructor)..now I can consider my self quite expert in making fondant dough (not the decoration yet!). Hey, the fresh fondant dough is also on sale..whoever interested call me. The price..RM 15/kg.




Twinkle, twinklw lil star...Ain forced me to bake cuppies one night..It was started after we came back from Carrefour and I bought flour. She insisted, nagging me all the way that we must bake cake that nite. I thought just enough with the cakes. But then..she insist on decoration! That was the result!!!

It has been years I didn't use piping bag. Ha..ha..horrible isn't it?
